Trip Overview

Sariska Tiger Reserve is the nearest tiger habitat to Delhi, nestled in the jagged Aravalli hills of Alwar. Unlike the lush green forests of Central India, Sariska is a rugged, dry deciduous forest filled with Dhok trees, rocky cliffs, and historic ruins.

On this same-day adventure, you will drive deep into the jungle where the Royal Bengal Tiger rules. But Sariska is not just about animals; it is about history. Inside the jungle, you will find the ancient Kankwari Fort, where Emperor Aurangzeb imprisoned his own brother, and the mystical Pandupol Hanuman Temple, linked to the Mahabharata. It is a rare mix of nature, history, and mythology.

Trip Highlights

What makes this day trip unforgettable.

  • The Jungle Safari: Hop into a 4×4 Gypsy (Jeep) or Canter (Open Bus) and track the majestic Tiger, Leopard, and Striped Hyena.

  • Pandupol Temple: Visit the ancient Hanuman Temple located deep inside the core zone. Legend says this is where Bhima (from Mahabharata) was defeated by Lord Hanuman in disguise.

  • Kankwari Fort View: See the ruins of the hilltop fort standing silently in the middle of the forest, guarding its royal secrets.

  • Siliserh Lake: (Time Permitting) Stop at the beautiful Siliserh Lake Palace on the way back to spot crocodiles basking on the banks.

  • Wildlife Spotting: Apart from tigers, keep an eye out for Sambar Deer, Nilgai, Wild Boars, and the massive Indian Langurs.

Timeline & Itinerary

06:00 AM: The Early Escape

Your private chauffeur arrives at your hotel in Delhi/NCR. We leave early to beat the city traffic. We take the NH-48 towards Jaipur, then turn towards Alwar. The concrete jungle slowly turns into the rocky hills of Rajasthan.

10:30 AM: Arrival in Alwar/Sariska

We reach the vicinity of the park. You have time to freshen up and grab an early lunch at a resort near the Sariska Gate. The air here is cleaner and smells of dry earth.

01:30 PM: Safari Registration

We reach the Sariska Gate (Sadwar). You must show your original ID proof (Passport/Aadhar) to get the boarding pass for your pre-booked Gypsy or Canter. Meet your nature guide.

02:30 PM: The Jungle Safari (Afternoon Shift)

The gate opens. The adventure begins.

  • The Search: The jeep moves slowly. The guide listens for “alarm calls” of deer or monkeys—a sign that a predator is nearby.

  • The Sighting: If luck is with you, you might see the orange and black stripes of a Tiger walking through the tall grass or resting near a waterhole.

  • The Ruins: We drive past ancient temples and the view of Kankwari Fort, making this feel like an Indiana Jones movie.

05:30 PM: Exit the Park

As the sun sets, we exit the jungle. The forest goes silent. We stop for a quick tea/coffee to discuss the sightings.

06:30 PM: The Return Drive

Exhausted but thrilled, we begin the drive back to Delhi. You can nap in the back seat as the driver navigates the highway.

10:30 PM: Doorstep Drop-off

We arrive back in Delhi. We drop you right at your hotel, ending a wild day out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a tiger sighting guaranteed?

No. Tigers are elusive wild animals. While Sariska has a good population, sightings depend on luck, weather, and the tiger's movement. However, you will definitely see deer, antelopes, and birds.

Is it safe?

Yes. You are accompanied by a trained driver and a nature guide. You must stay inside the vehicle at all times.

What is the best time to visit?

October to March is the best weather. April to June is very hot, but it is actually the best time for tiger sightings as they come out to waterholes frequently. The park remains closed in Monsoon (July-Sept), though the Pandupol road might be open.

Which vehicle is better: Jeep or Canter?

Jeep (Gypsy) is much better. It seats 6 people, can go deeper into narrow tracks, is less noisy, and offers a more private experience. Canters are 20-seater open buses.

Can we go in our own car?

No. Private vehicles are not allowed inside the core tiger zones for safari. You must hire the registered safari vehicles. (Exception: On Tuesdays/Saturdays, private cars are allowed only on the main road to Pandupol Temple, but stopping for wildlife is not allowed).

Is food available inside?

No. There is no food inside the jungle. You must eat before entering or carry water (no plastic littering allowed). There are good hotels near the Sariska gate for lunch.
