Trip Overview
Sanwariya Seth (Lord Krishna) is not just a deity here; he is a stakeholder. Located in the town of Mandaphia, this temple is famous for the unique tradition where businessmen, farmers, and opium cultivators make the Lord a “partner” in their ventures. They pledge a percentage of their annual profit, and in return, they believe the Lord grants them immense success.
On this tour, you will drive on the smooth highway towards Chittorgarh to reach this grand temple. Known for its massive donations and gold work, the temple architecture resembles the ancient sprawling temples of Orissa but with a modern Rajasthani touch. The idol of the Dark Krishna (Sanwalia) is mesmerizing, standing tall with a flute, radiating an aura of command and compassion.

Why is he called "Seth"?
"Seth" means Merchant or Rich Man. He is called this because he is the deity of wealth for the region's merchants, who share their profits with him as if he were a living partner.
Is the road safe?
Yes, the NH-27 is part of the East-West Corridor and is one of the best 4-lane highways in India.
What is the best day to visit?
Weekdays (Mon-Fri) are best to avoid the rush. Sundays and festive days (like Janmashtami/Holi) see lakhs of visitors.
Can we combine this with Nathdwara?
No. Nathdwara is in the north of Udaipur, while Sanwariya Seth is in the east (towards Chittorgarh). They are in opposite directions. Doing both in one day involves too much driving (approx 300+ km loop).
Can we do a special Puja?
Regular Darshan is free for all. Special Pujas can be booked at the temple trust office, but usually, there is a waiting list.
Is there a dress code?
Casual modest wear is fine. Remove leather belts and wallets before entering the inner sanctum if asked by security.
