Trip Overview
In the middle of the Thar Desert, in the district of Churu, stands a temple that defies tradition. Salasar Balaji is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, but here, the idol has a round face, a beard, and a moustache. Legend says a farmer found this idol while ploughing his field, and since then, it has become a center of immense faith (Shakti Sthal).
Unlike many other temples, Salasar is famous for its Savamani (50 kg food offering) tradition. As you approach the town, the air fills with the rich aroma of Desi Ghee and Laddoos being prepared in massive kitchens. On this tour, you will tie a coconut to the ancient tree to lock your wish, bow before the “Adult Hanuman,” and experience the warmth of Marwari hospitality.
Trip Highlights
What makes this day trip unforgettable.
✅ The Bearded Idol: Have Darshan of the unique Salasar Balaji. The idol does not look like the typical monkey-faced Hanuman; it has a human-like, round face with facial hair, representing his adult form.
✅ The Wish Tree: Tie a red coconut (Nariyal) with a sacred thread (Mauli) on the ancient Khejri Tree in the courtyard. It is believed that once your wish is granted, you must return to untie it.
✅ Mohan Das Ji’s Dhuni: Visit the sacred fire pit (Dhuni) of Baba Mohan Das, the first devotee who discovered the idol. The ash (Vibhuti) from here is considered miraculous.
✅ Anjani Mata Temple: Visit the temple of Mother Anjani (Hanuman’s mother) located 1 km away. It is said your pilgrimage is incomplete without bowing to the mother.
✅ Savamani Kitchens: Witness the massive community kitchens where thousands of kilograms of food are cooked daily for pilgrims.
Timeline & Itinerary
07:30 AM: The Highway Drive
Your private chauffeur arrives at your hotel in Jaipur. We take the Sikar Highway (NH-52). The road is smooth and wide. We pass the Ringas circle and head deeper into the Shekhawati region. The landscape turns sandy, dotted with Khejri trees.
10:30 AM: Arrival at Salasar Dham
We see the massive red archway of Salasar. The town is bustling with pilgrims. We park the car and walk towards the temple complex. The smell of incense and frying Boondi is everywhere.
11:00 AM: Darshan & Coconut Ritual
Enter the queue complex (which is very well managed with AC/Fans). As you reach the sanctum, the golden doors open. There He is—Salasar Balaji—covered in gold foil and orange vermilion (Sindoor). Offer your prayers. Afterward, go to the courtyard and tie your coconut to the tree. Whisper your wish.
12:30 PM: Dhuni & Anjani Mata
Take blessings from the Akhand Dhuni (Eternal Fire) that has been burning for centuries. Then, we drive or take an e-rickshaw to the Anjani Mata Temple nearby.
01:30 PM: Marwari Lunch
Salasar is famous for its food. We stop at a good restaurant or a Dharamshala. If you have booked a Savamani (food offering), this is the time to distribute and eat the Prasad (Dal, Baati, Churma, Laddoos). (Lunch is Direct Payment).

If you have energy and time, we can extend the trip by driving 1 hour to Jhunjhunu to visit the Rani Sati Dadi Mandir. (Optional).

Frequently Asked Questions
Can we combine Salasar with Khatu Shyam Ji?
Yes, absolutely. This is our most popular combo. The route is Jaipur -> Khatu Shyam Ji -> Salasar -> Jaipur. It takes about 12-13 hours and covers both major temples.
Why does he have a beard?
The legend says that Mohandas Ji (the first devotee) fed the idol with his own hands. Once, he saw the idol with a beard and moustache like a grown man, and since then, the idol has been worshipped in this unique adult form.
Are there VIP tickets?
There is no official "paid" VIP ticket. However, senior citizens and families with infants are often allowed through a shorter queue by the guards.
What is "Savamani"?
Savamani is a special offering of 50 kg (approx. 1.25 maunds) of food (usually Laddoos, Churma, or Namkeen) cooked in Desi Ghee. Devotees offer this when a big wish is granted. You can book this at the temple counters.
Is the road good?
Yes, the road from Jaipur to Sikar is a 6-lane/4-lane highway. From Sikar to Salasar (approx. 40 km), it is a 2-lane highway but in good condition.
Is there a dress code?
Casual, modest clothing is fine. Shorts and sleeveless tops are generally frowned upon in temples. Men often cover their heads with a handkerchief.
