Trip Overview
This tour offers the most dramatic contrast in Rajasthan. First, you visit Ranakpur, hidden deep in the forest valley. Here, the Adinath Jain Temple (built in 1437) leaves you speechless with its 1,444 marble pillars—no two of which are alike. It is a masterpiece of delicacy and peace.
Then, you shift gears and drive up the rugged Aravalli hills to Kumbhalgarh Fort. This is the beast to Ranakpur’s beauty. Built by Rana Kumbha, it boasts a 36-kilometer long wall—the second longest in the world after the Great Wall of China. It is a fortress that was never conquered in battle. From the “Cloud Palace” at the top, you can see all the way to the sand dunes of the Thar Desert.
Trip Highlights
What makes this day trip unforgettable.
✅ The 1444 Pillars: Walk through the Chaumukha Mandir in Ranakpur. Try to find two identical pillars (Spoiler: You can’t!). The play of light and shadow on the marble is magical.
✅ The Great Wall of India: Stand on the massive ramparts of Kumbhalgarh. The wall snakes through the mountain peaks like a sleeping dragon. It is wide enough for eight horses to run abreast.
✅ Badal Mahal: Climb to the highest point of the fort, the Palace of Clouds. The cool breeze and the panoramic view of the Mewar region are worth the steep walk.
✅ The Ghat Drive: The drive between Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh passes through the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary. It is a raw, winding road through dense forests where you might spot monkeys, peacocks, or even a leopard.
✅ Sun Temple: Visit the ancient Surya Narayan Temple at Ranakpur, famous for its intricate erotic carvings (Khajuraho style).

Frequently Asked Questions
Can we do the Light & Sound Show at Kumbhalgarh?
Yes. There is a show at 6:45 PM. However, this means we will return to Udaipur very late (around 10:00 PM). Let us know if you want to stay for this so we can adjust the driver's schedule.
Is lunch available?
Yes, there are good resorts like King's Abode or Mana Hotel in Ranakpur and The Aodhi in Kumbhalgarh serving excellent food.
Why no leather in Ranakpur?
Jainism preaches non-violence (Ahimsa). Animal products like leather are considered impure. You must leave belts, leather wallets, and leather bags in the car or lockers.
Is it suitable for seniors?
Ranakpur: Yes, it is flat (few steps). Kumbhalgarh: The main wall is accessible, but the walk to the top palace is very steep and tiring. Seniors can enjoy the lower fort area without climbing to the top.
Are there tigers in the sanctuary?
No tigers, but there are Leopards, Wolves, and Sloth Bears. Sightings are rare during the day on the main road, but you will definitely see monkeys.
Can we start late?
We recommend starting by 9:00 AM. If you start later (e.g., 11:00 AM), you might miss the entry time for the fort or have to rush through the temple.
