Trip Overview
Escape the bustling cities and step into a storybook. Mandawa, located in the heart of the Shekhawati region, is famous worldwide as the “Open-Air Art Gallery of Rajasthan.” On this day trip, you will explore a town where every wall is a canvas. The wealthy merchants of the 18th and 19th centuries built grand mansions (Havelis) and hired artists to paint frescoes depicting everything from mythology to the first trains and gramophones. Unlike other tours, this package includes an expert English-Speaking Local Guide who will decode the stories behind these paintings and take you through the narrow lanes to find hidden gems that regular tourists miss.

Timeline & Itinerary
08:00 AM: The Morning Drive
Your private chauffeur arrives at your hotel in Jaipur. We begin the journey north towards the Shekhawati region. The drive on NH-52 is smooth, passing through green fields and small villages. It is the perfect time to relax and watch the real rural India pass by.
11:30 AM: Arrival & Meet the Guide
Welcome to Mandawa! Upon arrival, you will be introduced to your English-Speaking Local Guide. He is a resident of the town and knows every nook and cranny. We park the car and begin our Heritage Walking Tour.
12:00 PM: The Haveli Hopping
We start the treasure hunt. Walk into the Murmuria Haveli to see paintings of trains and George V. Visit the Goenka Double Haveli to admire its massive facade. Your guide will point out details you would miss on your own—like a painting of a man flying a plane or Lord Krishna playing with Gopis.
01:30 PM: A Traditional Lunch
After the walk, we take a break at a heritage hotel or a clean local restaurant. Mandawa offers delicious, spicy Rajasthani curry and hot rotis. (Lunch is Direct Payment).
02:30 PM: The Fort & Bazaars
We visit the Mandawa Fort (often converted into a hotel, but parts are open). Admire the mirror work and the view of the town. Later, stroll through the Main Bazaar. It is a great place to buy local wood carvings or just sit with a cup of chai and watch the world go by.
04:00 PM: The Return Journey
Full of colorful memories and artistic inspiration, we say goodbye to the painted town. We begin the drive back to Jaipur.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do we need a guide? Can't we see it ourselves?
You can walk around alone, but the paintings have deep meanings and stories (e.g., why is there a train painted next to a god?). Also, many beautiful Havelis are hidden in back alleys. Our Local Guide ensures you don't miss the best ones and understand what you are looking at.
Can we buy art in Mandawa?
Yes, there are many local shops selling miniature paintings, wooden handicrafts, and tie-dye fabrics. Your guide can help you bargain!
What is the best time to visit?
October to March is the best time as the weather is cool for walking. Summers (April-June) can be quite hot for an outdoor walking tour.
Is the road to Mandawa good?
Yes, the majority of the drive is on the National Highway (NH-52). The last 30 minutes are on state roads which are also paved and decent.
Is it suitable for elderly people?
Yes, but please note there is walking involved. If walking is difficult, we can arrange for an Auto-Rickshaw in Mandawa to minimize the walking distance between Havelis.
Can we stop at Nawalgarh too?
Yes! Nawalgarh is another painted town just 30 km from Mandawa. If you are a fast traveler, we can cover both towns in one day (adding about 1 hour to the trip).
