Trip Overview

Shri Mahaveer Ji (Chandanpur) is not just a temple; it is a Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra (Place of Miracles). Legend says a cow used to shed its milk spontaneously on a mound here; when excavated, the deep red sandstone idol of Lord Mahaveer appeared. Unlike the usual white marble idols, this distinctive copper-colored idol draws millions of devotees who believe that a single sincere prayer here can move mountains. Located on the peaceful banks of the Gambhiri River, the complex is a city of temples, featuring the main shrine, a towering Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame), and the spectacular glass-work of the Kamala Nehru Shield.

Timeline & Itinerary

07:30 AM: The Pilgrim’s Start

Your private chauffeur arrives at your hotel in Jaipur. We head east on the Agra Highway (NH-21). The drive is scenic, passing through the Aravalli hills and the stone-mining town of Mahwa. Watch the mustard fields of rural Rajasthan flash by as we turn towards Hindaun City.

11:00 AM: Arrival at Chandanpur

We arrive at Shri Mahaveer Ji. The atmosphere shifts instantly. The town is clean, quiet, and filled with the scent of sandalwood and incense. We park near the main complex (Katla).

11:30 AM: Darshan of the Mulnayak

Enter the main temple. As you approach the inner sanctum (Garbha Griha), the crowd falls silent. There He is—the Mulnayak (Principal Deity). The reddish hue of the idol glows under the lamps. Offer your prayers and feel the vibration of centuries of devotion.

01:00 PM: Parikrama & Kirti Stambh

Perform the Parikrama (circumambulation) of the temple. Then, walk to the marble Kirti Stambh. Standing tall against the blue sky, it is a perfect spot for meditation. Visit the spot where the idol was originally excavated (Charan Chatri).

02:00 PM: Satvik Bhojan

Head to the massive temple Bhojanalaya. Enjoy a pure, hygienic, Satvik lunch (No onion/garlic). The simplicity of the food here is its greatest taste. (Lunch is Direct Payment/Donation).

03:00 PM: Shantinath Jinalaya

Before leaving, we drive a short distance to the Shantinath Jinalaya. This is a newer addition—a massive, sprawling temple complex with colossal idols. The silence here is profound.

04:30 PM: The Return Journey

Blessed and recharged, we begin the drive back to Jaipur. You can nap comfortably in the AC car as we navigate the country roads back to the highway.

08:00 PM: Doorstep Drop-off

We arrive back in Jaipur. We drop you right at your hotel doorstep, ending a day of faith and peace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the idol red?

The idol is made of sandstone, which has a natural reddish-brown color. It is unique because most Jain idols are either white marble or black stone.

Is there a train station nearby?

Yes, "Shri Mahaveerji" railway station is 7 km away. However, for a comfortable day trip from Jaipur, a private car is recommended as train timings may not match your schedule.

Is the road condition good?

The drive from Jaipur to Mahwa (NH-21) is excellent (4-lane). The last 30-40 km from Hindaun to the temple is a 2-lane state road, which is average but manageable.

Can we visit Kaila Devi Temple also?

Yes. The famous Kaila Devi Temple is about 45 km from Mahaveer Ji. We can combine both in a single day, but it will be a long trip (13-14 hours). Let us know if you want to add this.

Can we perform Abhishek?

Yes. The Jal Abhishek is usually performed early in the morning (before 9:00 AM). You must wear fresh, unstitched clothes (Dhoti/Dupatta).

Is food available on the way?

Yes, the Jaipur-Agra highway has excellent midways (like Midway Mahwa) with clean restrooms and food courts. Inside the temple town, only pure vegetarian food is available.
