Trip Overview
Jeen Mata is more than a temple; it is a fortress of faith hidden in the Aravalli valley of Sikar. Dedicated to the Goddess of Power (Shakti), this temple is famous for the legend of Aurangzeb. When the Mughal Emperor tried to destroy the temple, the Goddess unleashed a swarm of millions of honeybees, forcing his mighty army to retreat. To this day, the “Bharmara” (Bee) family is worshipped here.
But the story is incomplete without her brother, Harshnath. While Jeen Mata sits in the valley, her brother sits atop the highest peak of the mountain nearby. On this tour, you will bow before the Eight-Armed Goddess, witness the Akhand Jyot (Eternal Flame) that has been burning for centuries (oil originally supplied by Delhi Sultans), and drive up the steep winding road to the Harshnath Temple to see the windmills spinning in the clouds.
Trip Highlights
What makes this day trip unforgettable.
✅ The Eight-Armed Idol: Have Darshan of the ancient, swayambhu idol of Jeen Mata. The energy in the main sanctum is intense and protective.
✅ The Emperor’s Apology: See the evidence of history—Aurangzeb himself donated oil for the Akhand Jyot after his defeat, a tradition that continued for centuries.
✅ Harshnath Bhairav: Drive up the breathtaking mountain road to the 10th-century Harshnath Temple. It offers a 360-degree view of the Rajasthan plains and massive windmills.
✅ Kajal Shikhar: For the adventurous, a trek to the very top peak (Kajal Shikhar) offers spiritual solitude.
✅ Ancient Architecture: The Harshnath temple ruins are an archaeological treasure, featuring intricate carvings from 973 AD.
Timeline & Itinerary
08:00 AM: The Morning Drive
Your private chauffeur arrives at your hotel in Jaipur. We head north on the Sikar Highway (NH-52). The drive is smooth and fast. We pass through Ringas and turn towards the hills at Goreya. The landscape shifts from flat plains to the rugged, rocky Aravallis.
10:30 AM: Arrival at Jeen Valley
The road descends into a dense forest valley. We arrive at Jeen Mata Dham. The air here is cooler, filled with the scent of incense and the sound of temple bells.
11:00 AM: Darshan & Legend
Enter the main temple. It is built of white marble and red stone. Stand before the Goddess. Your driver or guide will recount the story of how Jeen and Harsh, once loving siblings, were separated by fate, turning into divine entities. Offer your Prasad (sweets/coconuts) and seek her blessings.
12:30 PM: Lunch Break
The valley has many local Dhabas and Dharamshalas. Enjoy a simple, spicy Rajasthani meal of Dal Baati or Mirchi Tapore. (Lunch is Direct Payment).
01:30 PM: The Mountain Drive (Harshnath)
Now, the adventure begins. We drive 20 km to the base of the Harsh Parvat and begin the steep climb. The road winds up the mountain like a snake. As you climb, you will see huge Windmills spinning right next to you.
02:30 PM: Harshnath Temple
We reach the summit. The ancient Harshnath Temple (dedicated to Lord Shiva/Bhairav) stands here, half in ruins, half standing tall. The intricate stone carvings of dancers and musicians from the 10th century are mesmerizing. The wind here is strong and roars through the pillars.
03:30 PM: The Panoramic View
Spend time looking down at the valley floor miles below. It is one of the best viewpoints in the Shekhawati region.
04:30 PM: The Return Journey
We descend the mountain and join the highway back to Jaipur.
07:00 PM: Doorstep Drop-off
We arrive back in Jaipur. We drop you right at your hotel doorstep, ending a day of heights and holiness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the road to Harshnath dangerous?
The road is steep and winding, but it is paved. Our drivers are experienced in hill driving. It offers thrilling views but is safe if driven carefully.
Can we combine this with Salasar Balaji?
Yes, but it becomes a long day. Jeen Mata is midway to Salasar. The route would be Jaipur -> Jeen Mata -> Salasar -> Jaipur (approx. 12-13 hours).
Who is Harshnath?
Harshnath is the brother of Jeen Mata. Legend says he was upset when Jeen Mata left home, and he followed her to these hills. He practiced severe penance to Lord Shiva and became a form of Bhairav.
Can we combine this with Khatu Shyam Ji?
Yes. Khatu Shyam Ji is on the same route (near Ringas). We can do Jaipur -> Jeen Mata -> Khatu Shyam Ji -> Jaipur. This is a very popular "Twin Temple" itinerary.
Is there a Navratri Fair?
Yes. A massive fair is held during both Chaitra and Ashvin Navratri. During these times, private vehicles are stopped a few kilometers away, and you have to walk or take a shuttle.
Are there restrooms?
Yes, there are public restrooms near the Jeen Mata parking area and standard midways on the NH-52 highway. Facilities at the top of Harshnath are very basic.
