Trip Overview
Deep in the gypsum-rich lands of Nagaur lies a temple that has stood tall since the Gupta Empire (4th Century AD). The Dadhimati Mata Temple in Goth Manglod is a powerhouse of energy. It is one of the 52 Shakti Peeths (where the skull or “Kapal” of Goddess Sati fell) and is the Kuldevi (Tutelary Deity) of the Dadhich Brahmins.
This tour is a time-travel experience. As you drive away from Jaipur and into the raw desert, you leave the modern world behind. You will arrive at a structure carved with ancient Sanskrit inscriptions and divine sculptures that have survived for over 1,600 years. It is a place where history and mythology merge.
Trip Highlights
What makes this day trip unforgettable.
✅ The Ancient Shakti Peeth: Bow before the idol of Dadhimati Mata, an avatar of Goddess Lakshmi. Legend says this is where the skull of Sati fell, making the ground intensely powerful.
✅ Gupta Art: Touch the stone walls carved in the 4th Century. The architecture is a rare surviving example of the Gupta Period, often called the “Golden Age of India.”
✅ The Floating Pillar: Witness the mystery of the “Hanging Pillar” inside the temple, which is believed to be suspended without touching the base.
✅ The Gypsum Lands: Drive through the unique white landscape of Goth Manglod, famous for its massive gypsum mines.
✅ Vedic Vibes: The temple is a center for Vedic learning. You will often hear young priests chanting ancient mantras with perfect rhythm.
Timeline & Itinerary
06:00 AM: The Sunrise Departure
Your private chauffeur arrives at your hotel in Jaipur. We start early to beat the desert heat. We hit the Bikaner Highway, watching the sun rise over the Aravalli hills near Sikar. The air is cool and crisp.
09:30 AM: Breakfast Stop
We pause at a highway midway near Nagaur for hot tea and Mirchi Vada. The landscape around us changes—green fields turn into the flat, scrubby plains of the Thar Desert.
11:00 AM: Arrival at Goth Manglod
We turn off the main road. The path leads through the white, dusty gypsum fields. Suddenly, the magnificent Shikhar (spire) of the Dadhimati Temple rises from the earth. It looks ancient, weathered, and majestic.
11:30 AM: Darshan & History
Enter the stone courtyard. The silence here is heavy with age. Ring the bell and enter the Garbha Griha (Sanctum). The idol of the Devi is radiant. Offer your prayers. Look closely at the pillars—they are carved with scenes from the Ramayana and everyday life from 1,600 years ago.
12:30 PM: The Parikrama
Walk around the temple. See the “Kapal Kund” (the holy pond). Your driver or a local priest will point out the famous inscriptions that help historians date this temple to the Gupta era.
01:30 PM: Lunch Break
We drive towards Nagaur city or stop at a decent highway restaurant. Enjoy a rustic Rajasthani meal of Bajra Roti and Garlic Chutney. (Lunch is Direct Payment).
03:00 PM: Kunjal Mata (Optional Add-on)
If you have energy, we can make a stop at the Kunjal Mata Temple in Deh (just 30 mins away). It is another stunning white marble temple and the Kuldevi of Pareek Brahmins.
04:00 PM: The Return Drive
We begin the journey back to Jaipur. The return drive is perfect for reflecting on the ancient energy you just experienced.
08:30 PM: Doorstep Drop-off
We arrive back in Jaipur. We drop you right at your hotel doorstep, ending a journey that took you back in time.
