12:00 PM: Entering the Forbidden City
We arrive at the gates of Bhangarh. Read the famous ASI signboard that warns: “Entering the borders of Bhangarh before sunrise and after sunset is strictly prohibited.” Feel the chill as you walk past the ancient Hanuman Temple at the entrance—the guardian of the fort.
12:30 PM: The Walk of Ruins
Stroll down the main market street. The stone walls of the shops are intact, but the roofs are missing—legend says no roof can ever stand in Bhangarh. Your driver or guide will share the local legends of the Wizard’s Curse that doomed this prosperous city in a single day.

We hike up the gentle slope to the Royal Palace. Although in ruins, the architecture is stunning. From the top, you can see the entire layout of the abandoned city. It is the perfect spot for atmospheric photos. Watch out for the monkeys—they are the current rulers of this fort!

No, but you can hire local guides at the fort entrance for a small fee. They are great storytellers and will explain the legend of Princess Ratnavati and the curse in detail.
Is it safe to visit?
Yes, absolutely. During the day, it is a popular tourist spot filled with families and students. It is perfectly safe. The "danger" is only associated with staying there at night.
Can we stay there after sunset?
No. It is illegal. The ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) and local police prohibit entry after sunset due to the presence of wild animals (from the nearby tiger reserve) and the risk of getting lost in the ruins.
What is the best time to go?
