Trip Overview

Om Banna (Bullet Baba) is perhaps the most unique temple in the world. Located on the Jodhpur-Pali highway, there is no stone idol here, no ancient scripture. The deity is a 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet (License Plate: RNJ 7773).

On this tour, you will drive down the same highway where the legend was born. In 1988, a local youth leader, Om Singh Rathore, crashed his bike into a tree and died. The police took the bike to the station. The next morning, it vanished and was found back at the crash site. They chained it, emptied the fuel, and locked it up. It returned again. Today, thousands of truck drivers and travelers stop here daily. They don’t just pray; they honk their horns in salute and offer bottles of liquor to the engine, believing that Om Banna protects them from road accidents. It is raw, dusty, and undeniably powerful.

Trip Highlights

What makes this day trip unforgettable.

  • The 350cc Deity: Stand before the legendary motorcycle encased in glass. It is garlanded with marigolds and covered in vermilion (tilak).

  • The Crash Site: See the Khejri tree where the accident happened. It is now a shrine covered in red threads and bangles tied by devotees making wishes.

  • The Ritual of Liquor: Witness the unique offering where devotees pour whisky or beer onto the “mouth” of the idol (or a designated collection point).

  • Highway Culture: Experience the chaotic energy of a highway temple—trucks slowing down, horns honking in rhythm, and the smell of incense mixing with diesel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it a real motorcycle?

Yes. It is the original Royal Enfield Bullet 350 that Om Singh Rathore was riding when he crashed in 1988.

Do we have to offer alcohol?

No. It is not mandatory. You can offer flowers, incense, or sweets. Alcohol is just a unique tradition associated with this specific deity.

Is it safe to drink the "Prasad"?

We recommend against consuming the liquor offered there, as hygiene standards vary. It is better to offer it and leave it for the temple trust/locals.

Can we combine this with other trips?

Absolutely. Since this trip is so short (3-4 hours), we highly recommend combining it with Bishnoi Village Safari (morning) or Rohat Garh (lunch).

Can women enter?

Yes. There are no restrictions. Women can enter, pray, and tie threads.

What is the "Eternal Flame"?

An Akhand Jyot (lamp) burns 24/7 at the site. It has been burning since the shrine was established, symbolizing the immortal spirit of Om Banna.
