Trip Overview

Nareli Jain Temple, officially known as Shri Gyanodaya Tirth Kshetra, is unlike any other temple in Rajasthan. While most temples are built in ancient sandstone styles, Nareli is a marvel of modern engineering. Built with striking angular shapes and geometric precision, it looks like a lotus unfolding at the foot of the hills. On this day trip, you will visit the massive main sanctum with its 22-foot-tall metal idols and then take the spiritual “zigzag” hike up the hill to visit the 24 Miniature Temples (Choubisi) dedicated to the Tirthankaras. It is a place of immense peace, fresh air, and stunning views of Ajmer city.

Trip Highlights

What makes this day trip unforgettable.

  • The Angular Marvel: Witness the unique architecture of the main temple. It is built without traditional domes, using sharp angles and glass to create a futuristic look.

  • Ashtadhatu Idols: Bow before the colossal idols of Lord Adinath, Lord Shantinath, and Lord Arahnath made of eight metals (Ashtadhatu).

  • The Hill Hike: Walk the zigzag path up the hill to visit the 24 small shrines (Tirthankarayalas). The higher you go, the better the view.

  • Garden of Peace: Relax in the manicured gardens at the foothills, perfect for meditation.

  • Ana Sagar Lake (Bonus): On the way back, stop at the beautiful Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer to catch the cool breeze.

Timeline & Itinerary

09:00 AM: The Expressway Drive

Your private chauffeur arrives at your hotel in Jaipur. We hit the NH-48, one of the best 6-lane highways in India. The drive is smooth and fast. Watch the arid landscape zip by as we cruise towards Ajmer.

11:30 AM: Arrival at Nareli

We arrive at the outskirts of Ajmer. The Nareli Temple appears suddenly against the backdrop of the brown hills—a striking white structure that looks almost alien in its perfection. We drive through the grand archway and park at the base.

12:00 PM: Darshan at the Main Hall

Enter the main sanctum. The hall is massive, airy, and filled with light. Stand before the three gigantic metal idols. The vibration here is of strength and silence. Admire the intricate glasswork and the modern stone carving that tells ancient stories.

01:00 PM: The Zigzag Climb (The 24 Shrines)

Now, for the adventure. We begin the walk up the hill. A paved, zigzag path leads you upwards. Every few hundred meters, you encounter a small, beautifully crafted shrine dedicated to one of the 24 Tirthankaras. As you climb, the wind gets stronger, and the view of the valley opens up. (Note: Cars can drive halfway up for those who cannot walk).

02:30 PM: Pure Veg Lunch

After the descent, we head to the Temple Bhojanalaya for a simple, pious meal. Alternatively, we can drive 15 minutes into Ajmer city for a wider variety of vegetarian restaurants. (Lunch is Direct Payment).

03:30 PM: Ana Sagar Lake Stop

Before heading back, we make a quick stop at Ana Sagar Lake in Ajmer. Walk along the marble pavilions (Baradari) built by Emperor Shah Jahan. The cool breeze off the water is the perfect way to cool down after the hill climb.

04:30 PM: The Return Drive

Refreshed and blessed, we start the drive back to Jaipur on the expressway.

07:00 PM: Doorstep Drop-off

We arrive back in Jaipur. We drop you right at your hotel doorstep, completing a day of fitness and faith.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we visit the Ajmer Dargah on the same trip?

Yes. Nareli is on the outskirts of Ajmer. We can easily add a stop at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah. However, please note that the Dargah area is very crowded and requires walking/auto-rickshaw, which adds about 2 hours to the trip.

Is the food safe?

The Temple Bhojanalaya serves very hygienic, Satvik food. There are also good highway restaurants on the Jaipur-Ajmer expressway.

What is the best time to visit?

Morning or late afternoon is best to avoid the midday sun, especially if you plan to climb the hill. Winter (Oct-March) is delightful.

Is there a ropeway to the top?

No, there is no ropeway. There is a zigzag walking path and a road that allows cars to go partially up the hill.

Is it suitable for seniors?

Yes. The main temple at the bottom is fully accessible. For the hill shrines, the car can take them up to the first level, from where they can see the view without climbing the entire way.

Can we combine this with Pushkar?

Yes! Jaipur -> Nareli -> Pushkar -> Jaipur is a very popular combination. It makes for a full 10-11 hour day but covers both the Jain Tirth and the Brahma Temple.
