Trip Overview
This tour offers the perfect balance of Nature and Royal Luxury. We begin at Bharatpur (Keoladeo National Park), a UNESCO World Heritage site. Unlike noisy jeep safaris, here you float through the wetlands on a silent Cycle Rickshaw, listening to the calls of thousands of migratory birds.
In the afternoon, we transport you to the Deeg Palace, the summer capital of the Jat rulers. It is famous for its 900 fountains and engineering that could create “artificial monsoon” thunder to cool down the king. From the silence of the forest to the grandeur of water palaces, this is a day of sensory delights.

✅ Engineering Marvel: See the ancient Keshav Bhawan, where stone balls were used in the roof to mimic the sound of thunder clouds.

✅ The Contrast: Experience the raw wilderness of the bird sanctuary and the symmetrical, manicured beauty of the palace gardens on the same day.
Timeline & Itinerary
07:30 AM: The Morning Escape
Your private chauffeur arrives at your hotel in Jaipur. We leave the desert city behind and hit the Agra Highway (NH-21). Watch the landscape transform—the dry Aravalli hills slowly give way to the lush, green plains of the Braj region. We can stop for a hot Masala Chai and Pakoras at a highway midway to wake up your senses.
11:00 AM: Into the Green Tunnel (Bharatpur)
We arrive at the gates of Keoladeo National Park. The air here feels cooler, fresher. You meet your pilot—a local Rickshaw Puller who knows every nest and hiding spot. Hop onto the seat and enter the sanctuary. The city noise fades, replaced by the chirping of parakeets and the splashing of water.
12:00 PM: The Birdwatcher’s Trance
Your rickshaw glides silently along the wetland paths. Look through your binoculars to see a majestic Sarus Crane dancing or a Python sunbathing on a rock. The reflection of the trees in the still water creates a mirror-like illusion. It is pure peace.
01:30 PM: Authentic Lunch
We exit the park and stop for lunch at a nearby resort. Bharatpur is on the border of UP and Rajasthan, so the food is a delicious mix of spicy curries and rich gravies. (Lunch is Direct Payment).
02:30 PM: Drive to the Summer Capital
A short 45-minute drive through rustic villages takes us to Deeg. As we approach, you will see the massive walls of the fortress rising from the plains.
03:15 PM: The Palace of Fountains (Deeg)
Enter the Deeg Palace Complex. It feels like a dream. Walk through the Gopal Bhawan, flanked by two massive water tanks. Explore the Keshav Bhawan, where the king once sat while hundreds of fountains sprayed colored water to create rainbows. Your guide will show you the hollow ceilings filled with stone balls—when water flowed, these balls would rattle, sounding exactly like thunder to signal the arrival of the monsoon.
04:30 PM: The Royal Gardens
Take a final stroll through the Mughal-style Charbagh gardens. The symmetry of the canals and the cool breeze coming off the water tanks make it the perfect spot to relax before the journey home.
05:00 PM: The Return Drive
As the sun turns the water tanks golden, we begin the drive back to Jaipur. Relax in your AC car, scroll through your photos of birds and palaces, and enjoy a smooth ride home.
08:30 PM: Doorstep Drop-off
We arrive back in Jaipur. We drop you right at your hotel doorstep, ending a day filled with nature’s beauty and human ingenuity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the fountains be running at Deeg?
Likely not. The fountains are functional but are turned on only for special festivals (like Braj Holi or in August/September) due to water conservation. Even without the fountains running, the palace is stunning.
Is it safe to drive back at night?
Yes, the Jaipur-Agra highway (NH-21) is one of the busiest and safest routes in North India, with plenty of lights and midway stops.
Can we add Lohagarh Fort too?
It’s possible but tight. Doing Bharatpur Sanctuary + Deeg Palace + Lohagarh Fort makes for a very rushed day. We recommend sticking to two major sites to enjoy them fully.
Can we walk instead of taking a rickshaw in Bharatpur?
Yes, you can walk or rent a bicycle. However, the rickshaw pullers are expert bird spotters and act as guides, which enhances the experience significantly.
Is Deeg Palace better than Jaipur City Palace?
It is different. Jaipur is about grandeur and grandeur; Deeg is about pleasure and summer retreat. The architecture at Deeg is more delicate, influenced by Mughal style, and focused entirely on water cooling systems.
Are there crocodiles in Deeg?
No, but there are plenty in Bharatpur! Deeg water tanks are ornamental.
