Trip Overview

Why drive 4 hours to Ranthambhore when the wild is just next door? Sariska Tiger Reserve is hidden in the ancient Aravalli hills, just a short 2-hour drive from Jaipur. Unlike Ranthambhore, which can be crowded, Sariska offers a raw, rugged, and peaceful jungle experience. This tour includes a Shared Gypsy Safari, meaning you get the premium experience of a small 4×4 Jeep (not a big bus) without booking the whole vehicle. Apart from the Royal Bengal Tiger, Sariska is famous for its high density of leopards, striped hyenas, and Sambhar deer. Deep inside the jungle, you will also find the legendary Pandupol Hanuman Temple, believed to be the spot where the Pandavas hid during their exile.

Trip Highlights

What makes this day trip unforgettable.

  • The Gypsy Experience: Enjoy the safari in a Shared Gypsy (Jeep). Being closer to the ground in a small vehicle makes the jungle feel much bigger and more thrilling.

  • The Leopard Hills: Sariska has rocky terrain that is perfect for leopards. Keep your eyes on the cliffs!

  • Mythology: Visit the ancient Pandupol Hanuman Temple located deep inside the core zone of the forest.

  • Historical Ruins: Spot the eerie Kankwari Fort, where Emperor Aurangzeb once imprisoned his brother Dara Shikoh.

  • Scenic Drive: The drive from Jaipur passes through the stunning Siliserh Lake area and the winding roads of the Aravallis.

Timeline & Itinerary

09:30 AM: The Morning Escape

Your private chauffeur arrives at your hotel in Jaipur. We head north towards Alwar. The drive is short and incredibly scenic. As you approach Sariska, the dry plains turn into lush, rocky hills. We can stop for tea at a roadside dhaba to enjoy the cool breeze.

12:00 PM: Arrival & Lunch

We arrive at the Sariska gate. Check-in at a jungle resort or hotel nearby. Freshen up and enjoy a hot, fresh lunch (Direct Payment). The air here is cleaner and cooler than in the city.

02:00 PM: The Jeep Safari (Afternoon Shift)

This is the highlight. You board your Shared Gypsy (6-Seater Jeep). Unlike the big Canters, the Gypsy can navigate narrow tracks and climb rocky slopes. Your nature guide will point out pugmarks and alarm calls.

03:30 PM: Deep in the Jungle

As the Gypsy moves deeper, look out for the elusive Tiger or a Leopard resting on a tree. You will also see herds of Spotted Deer and Blue Bulls (Nilgai). If it is a Tuesday or Saturday, the safari route often includes a stop at the Pandupol Temple, surrounded by langur monkeys and thick forest.

05:30 PM: Exit the Wild

As the sun sets behind the hills, the safari ends. We exit the park with dusty clothes but refreshed minds.

06:00 PM: Tea & Return Drive

Enjoy a quick tea or coffee at the resort. We then begin the smooth 2-hour drive back to Jaipur.

08:30 PM: Doorstep Drop-off

We arrive back in the Pink City. We drop you right at your hotel doorstep, home in time for dinner.

Is This Trip Perfect For You?

  • Short on Time: It is much closer than Ranthambhore (2 hours vs 4 hours), saving you 4 hours of travel time.

  • Jeep Lovers: You get a seat in a Gypsy (Jeep) for the price of a Canter ride elsewhere!

  • Leopard Fans: Sariska is arguably better for leopard sightings due to its rocky terrain.

  • History & Nature: The mix of forts, temples, and tigers is unique to Sariska.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sariska better than Ranthambhore?

It depends. Ranthambhore has more tigers, so sightings are more frequent. However, Sariska is closer to Jaipur, less crowded, and offers a better ride in a Gypsy (Jeep) compared to the big buses in Ranthambhore.

Can we visit the Haunted Bhangarh Fort on this trip?

Yes! Bhangarh is very close to Sariska (approx. 40 mins). We can easily add a stop at Bhangarh Fort before or after the safari. This makes for an amazing "Wildlife & Mystery" combo day.

Is it safe?

Yes. You are always accompanied by a trained driver and a nature guide. The animals are used to the vehicles and generally ignore them.

What is a "Shared Gypsy"?

A Gypsy is a small, open 4x4 Jeep that seats 6 people. "Shared" means you pay for one seat, and other travelers will occupy the other 5 seats. It is cheaper than booking the whole Jeep but offers the same great view.

Are tigers guaranteed?

No. Wildlife is unpredictable. However, the tiger population in Sariska has grown significantly in recent years, and sightings are becoming common.

Can we bring food inside the park?

No. Food is strictly prohibited inside the jungle to protect the animals. You can carry water.
