Why We Curated This Specific Route

This tour is designed for travelers who appreciate art and architecture. It connects the two most visually stunning regions of Rajasthan.

  • The “Fresco” Connection: You start with the modern colorful arches of Patrika Gate in Jaipur and end with the ancient painted walls of Mandawa. It is a complete journey through Rajasthan’s artistic evolution.

  • City vs. Village: Experience the bustling, royal capital of Jaipur (Days 1 & 2) and contrast it with the quiet, dusty charm of the rural Shekhawati region (Day 3).

  • The “Merchant” Story: While Jaipur shows you how the Kings lived, Mandawa shows you how the wealthy Merchants lived. Seeing both gives you the complete picture of Rajasthani society.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Mandawa from Jaipur?

It is approximately 170 km, which takes about 3 to 4 hours by road. The drive takes you through the rural heart of Rajasthan.

Can we go to Delhi from Mandawa instead of returning to Jaipur?

Mandawa was a trading outpost for ancient caravan routes. The merchants built huge mansions (Havelis) and hired artists to paint them. It is called an "Open-Air Art Gallery" because there are frescoes everywhere—on walls, ceilings, and gateways.

Is Patrika Gate worth visiting?

Yes! It is Jaipur's newest sensation. It is a series of nine gates, each hand-painted with scenes from different regions of Rajasthan. It is incredibly colorful and arguably the best photo spot in the city right now.

Can we go to Delhi from Mandawa instead of returning to Jaipur?

Yes, absolutely! Mandawa is actually closer to Delhi (approx. 5-6 hours) than it is to return to Jaipur. If your flight is from Delhi, we can drop you there on Day 4. This saves you backtracking.

Are the Havelis well-maintained?

Some are beautifully restored into hotels (like Castle Mandawa), while others are crumbling ruins. This mix of decay and grandeur gives Mandawa its unique, nostalgic charm.

Is it safe to walk in Mandawa?

Yes, it is a small, safe village. The locals are friendly and used to tourists. However, the streets can be dimly lit at night, so we recommend exploring during the day.
