Why We Curated This Specific Route
Udaipur is beautiful, but the real history of Mewar lies in its surrounding hills. We designed this 3-day itinerary to give you the best of both worlds: the luxury of the City of Lakes and the rugged history of the forts.
The “Great Wall” Experience: You can’t come this close and miss Kumbhalgarh Fort, home to the second-longest continuous wall in the world (after China). We dedicate a full day to this marvel.
The Marble Miracle: On the same day loop, we stop at the Ranakpur Jain Temple. Seeing the 1,444 uniquely carved marble pillars is an architectural pilgrimage in itself.
The 360° View: We include a ride on the Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway. It offers a bird’s-eye view of the entire city that ground-level tours simply cannot match.

Day 02: The Mewar Loop | Ranakpur & Kumbhalgarh
After an early breakfast, we embark on a scenic day trip through the lush Aravalli hills. Our first stop is the Ranakpur Jain Temple (approx. 2 hours drive). It is famous for its 1,444 marble pillars, no two of which are alike. The play of light and shadow here is mesmerizing.
Next, we drive up the winding roads to Kumbhalgarh Fort. This invincible fort is the birthplace of the legendary Maharana Pratap. Walk along the massive walls (The Great Wall of India) and visit the Badal Mahal (Palace of Clouds) at the very top. We return to Udaipur by evening, tired but full of awe.
Day Highlights:
Scenic drive through the Aravalli valleys.
Count the pillars at Ranakpur Jain Temple.
Walk on the “Great Wall of India” at Kumbhalgarh.

We also visit the serene Badi Lake (Tiger Lake), a quiet spot often skipped by regular tourists, and the Pratap Gaurav Kendra to learn about the history of the region. We then transfer you to the Udaipur airport or railway station for your onward journey.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the drive to Kumbhalgarh?
It takes about 2 to 2.5 hours (85 km) from Udaipur. The road passes through the hills and is very scenic. We usually do a loop: Udaipur -> Ranakpur -> Kumbhalgarh -> Udaipur to minimize backtracking.
Is the Boat Ride included?
Yes! A shared boat ride on Lake Pichola is included in your package. It is the highlight of any Udaipur trip.
Can we see tigers at Kumbhalgarh?
Kumbhalgarh is a Wildlife Sanctuary, and while it has leopards and wolves, tiger sightings are extremely rare/non-existent here. It is more famous for the Fort and the landscape.
Can we stay overnight in Kumbhalgarh?
Yes! If you prefer a slower pace, we can modify this itinerary to include 1 Night in Udaipur and 1 Night in a resort at Kumbhalgarh. Just ask us to customize it.
Is Ranakpur open every day?
Yes, but tourist timing is usually from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM (mornings are reserved for prayer). We plan the itinerary so you reach there at the correct time.
Is Badi Lake worth visiting?
Absolutely. While tourists crowd Fateh Sagar, Badi Lake is peaceful, surrounded by hills, and offers a "wilder" feel. It is a favorite spot for locals and photographers.
