Why We Curated This Specific Route

Mandawa is the heart of the Shekhawati region, often called the world’s largest open-air art gallery. We designed this 3-day escape for art lovers and those seeking a quiet, offbeat Rajasthan experience.

  • The “Art” Focus: While other tours rush through, we give you a full day to decode the frescoes. See the quirky mix of mythology and modernity (like British officers and flying trains) painted on 100-year-old walls.

  • Living Heritage: You won’t just see history; you will sleep in it. Mandawa is famous for its Heritage Hotels (converted Havelis/Castles). We ensure your stay is an experience in itself.

  • No Crowds: Unlike Jaipur or Udaipur, Mandawa is peaceful. The streets are quiet, the pace is slow, and you can explore without the tourist rush.

The Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Delhi to Mandawa | Into the Painted Zone

Your artistic journey begins with a pickup from your home or airport in Delhi. We drive west towards the Shekhawati region (approx. 5-6 hours). Watch the concrete skyline of Delhi give way to mustard fields and rural villages.

Upon arrival in Mandawa, check into your Heritage Haveli Hotel. After refreshing, take a relaxed evening walk through the narrow lanes. The town feels like a movie set—every wall, every archway is painted. It is a quiet introduction to the artistic heritage you will explore tomorrow.

Day Highlights:

  • Scenic drive from Delhi to rural Rajasthan.

  • Check-in to a traditional Heritage Haveli.

  • Evening walk in the painted lanes.

  • Photography of the sunset over old arches.

  • Overnight stay in Mandawa.

Day 02: The Open-Air Art Gallery | Full Day Sightseeing

After a royal breakfast, we step out to explore the masterpieces of Mandawa. We start with the Mandawa Fort, with its painted gateway and commanding views of the town.

Then, we dive into the famous Havelis. We visit the Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli, known for its erotic and realistic murals. We see the Goenka Double Haveli, a massive structure with two courtyards, and the Murmuria Haveli, famous for paintings of trains, cars, and George V—showing the merchants’ fascination with modern technology. The afternoon is free to wander the old bazaars, where you can find wooden handicrafts and tie-dye fabrics.

Day Highlights:

  • Explore the majestic Mandawa Fort.

  • Admire the frescoes of Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli.

  • Visit the Goenka Double Haveli & Murmuria Haveli.

  • Decode the unique mix of Indian & British art themes.

  • Shop for local wood carvings in the bazaar.

Day 03: Farewell to Art | Return to Delhi

Wake up to the peaceful silence of the town. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the courtyard of your Haveli. We then check out and begin our drive back to New Delhi.

We drop you at the Delhi airport, railway station, or your hotel, leaving you with memories of a town where every wall tells a story.

Day Highlights:

  • Relaxed morning breakfast.

  • Scenic drive back to Delhi.

  • Assisted drop-off at Airport/Station.

  • End of services with artistic memories.

Is there anything else to see nearby?

Yes, if you are interested, we can take a short detour to Nawalgarh or Fatehpur (nearby towns) which also have stunning Havelis. Just let the driver know.

What is the best time to visit?

October to March is ideal. The weather is cool and perfect for walking. Summers (April-June) are very hot in this semi-desert region.

How far is Mandawa from Delhi?

Mandawa is about 260 km from Delhi. It takes approximately 5 to 6 hours by road depending on traffic. The roads are generally good.

Can we stay in a Castle?

Yes! Castle Mandawa is a famous heritage hotel right in the center of town. If you choose the "Luxury" package, we can book your stay there. It feels like stepping back in time.
