Why We Curated This Specific Route

Millions of tourists visit Agra as a rushed day trip from Delhi. They arrive at noon, sweat in the crowds, and leave. We designed this 2-day itinerary for those who want to see the Taj Mahal the right way.

  • The “Sunrise” Advantage: The Taj Mahal changes color with the light. By staying overnight, you get to enter at sunrise – the most magical, crowd-free, and photogenic time of day.

  • The Hidden Gem: We include Itimad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj). It is often skipped by day-trippers, yet its delicate marble inlay work is considered even finer than the Taj Mahal itself.

  • Taste of Agra: You have time to explore the local bazaars in the evening and taste the famous Agra Petha (a traditional sweet) without rushing back to a bus.

The Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Agra – Arrival & The Mughal Power

Welcome to the city of Emperors. Upon your arrival at Agra airport or railway station, our representative will meet you for a smooth transfer to your hotel. After settling in, we begin our journey through history. First, we visit the massive Agra Fort. This red sandstone giant was the main residence of the Mughal Emperors. Walk through its palaces and see the tower where Shah Jahan was imprisoned, looking out at the Taj Mahal.

Next, we visit the serene Itimad-ud-Daulah, affectionately called the “Baby Taj.” It was the first Mughal structure built entirely of marble and served as the draft for the Taj Mahal. In the evening, you are free to explore the local markets to shop for marble handicrafts or try the local sweet delicacies.

Day Highlights:

  • VIP Meet & Greet at Agra Airport/Station.

  • Explore the palaces of the massive Agra Fort.

  • Visit the exquisite Baby Taj (Itimad-ud-Daulah).

  • Shop for marble souvenirs and try Agra Petha.

  • Relaxed evening to prepare for an early start.

Day 02: The World Wonder & Farewell

We start very early today—before dawn. We take you to the Taj Mahal just as the gates open. Watch as the rising sun turns the white marble from soft grey to pink and finally to dazzling white. This is the moment poets write about. Your guide will explain the perfect symmetry and the love story behind this World Wonder.

After the visit, we return to the hotel for a well-deserved breakfast. We then check out and transfer you to the Agra airport or railway station (or drive you back to Delhi if requested), leaving you with the unforgettable memory of the Taj at sunrise.

Day Highlights:

  • The Main Event: Sunrise guided tour of the Taj Mahal.

  • Experience the monument with fewer crowds.

  • Relaxed breakfast at the hotel.

  • Assisted drop-off at Airport/Station.

  • End of services with happy memories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why go at Sunrise? Can't we go later?

You can go later, but we highly recommend sunrise. At 10:00 AM, the crowds become overwhelming and the light gets harsh. Sunrise offers a peaceful, almost spiritual experience, and the photos are significantly better.

Can we start this tour from Delhi?

Yes! Agra is just 3 hours from Delhi via the Expressway. We can pick you up from your Delhi hotel/airport on Day 1 morning and drop you back in Delhi on Day 2.

Is it safe to walk in the markets at night?

Yes, the main tourist markets like Sadar Bazaar are safe and lively. However, like any tourist city, be aware of touts. Our driver can guide you to reputable shops if you wish to buy marble inlay work.

Can we visit the Taj Mahal on Friday?

No. The Taj Mahal is strictly closed on Fridays for prayers. Agra Fort and Baby Taj remain open. If your trip falls on a Friday, we will have to rearrange the itinerary or visit the Taj form the rear (Mehtab Bagh) view only.

Do we need a guide?

Yes. The history of the Taj Mahal is in the details—the optical illusions, the Quranic inscriptions, the symmetry. A government-approved guide (which we provide) brings these stories to life.

What is "Petha"?

Petha is a soft, translucent candy made from ash gourd (winter melon). It is the signature sweet of Agra. We recommend trying the "Paan Petha" or the classic "Angoori Petha."
