Why We Curated This Specific Route
Jodhpur is the gateway to the Thar Desert, and its history is as vast as the landscape. We designed this 2-day tour to show you the two distinct eras of this royal city.
The “Citadel of the Sun”: We prioritize Mehrangarh Fort, often called the most impressive fort in India. We allocate ample time here so you can explore its museums and ramparts properly, not just rush through.
Old vs. New Royalty: You get to see the ancient Mandore (the old capital) and the grandiose Umaid Bhawan Palace (one of the world’s largest private residences), witnessing the evolution of Marwar’s rulers.
The “Real” Blue City: Instead of just looking from the top, we take you into the Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar) market, where you can smell the spices, see the textiles, and feel the pulse of the local life.
The Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Jodhpur – Arrival & The Citadel of the Sun
Welcome to the Blue City. Upon your arrival at Jodhpur airport or railway station, our representative will meet you for a smooth transfer to your hotel. After a short rest to escape the desert sun, we head to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort. Rising perpendicular and impregnable from a rocky hill, this fort offers the best panoramic views of the blue-painted houses below. Explore the intricate palaces like Phool Mahal and Sheesh Mahal inside the complex.
Next, we visit the serene Jaswant Thada, a milky-white marble memorial often called the “Taj Mahal of Marwar.” We end the day at the bustling Clock Tower (Ghanta Ghar) and Sadar Bazaar. This is the perfect place to shop for spices, tie-dye textiles, and handicrafts.
Day Highlights:
VIP Meet & Greet at Jodhpur Airport/Station.
Explore the massive Mehrangarh Fort & Museum.
Visit the marble cenotaph, Jaswant Thada.
Walk through the busy Clock Tower Market.
View the Blue City from the fort ramparts.
Day 02: Palaces, Gardens & Farewell
After breakfast, we check out and explore the modern and ancient sides of Jodhpur. We start with the Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum. Part of this immense palace is still the residence of the Royal Family, while another part is a luxury hotel. The museum offers a glimpse into the lavish lifestyle of the 20th-century Maharajas.
If time permits before your departure, we drive to Mandore Gardens, the ancient capital of Marwar before Jodhpur was built. It is known for its dewals (cenotaphs) built in the style of Hindu temples set amidst rocky gardens. We then transfer you to the airport or railway station for your onward journey, leaving you with memories of valor and grandeur.
Day Highlights:
Visit the royal Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum.
Explore the ancient cenotaphs at Mandore Gardens.
See the “Hall of Heroes” at Mandore.
Assisted drop-off at Airport/Station.
End of services with happy memories.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can we see Sand Dunes in this trip?
Jodhpur is near the desert, but the famous "Sam Sand Dunes" are in Jaisalmer (5 hours away). However, we can arrange a trip to Osian (The Khajuraho of Rajasthan), which is 1.5 hours away and has smaller dunes and temples. This would require an extra half-day or extending the trip.
Is the Umaid Bhawan Palace fully open to tourists?
No. Umaid Bhawan is divided into three parts: the Residence of the Royal Family (Private), a Taj Hotel (Guests Only), and a Museum (Open to Public). The tour includes a visit to the Museum section.
Is there an airport in Jodhpur?
Yes, Jodhpur Airport (JDH) is well connected with daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur. It is very close to the city center (about 15-20 mins drive).
Where are the blue houses located?
The best cluster of blue houses is in the Navchokiya and Brahmpuri areas behind the fort. Standard tours view them from the top, but if you want to walk among them, let our driver/guide know, and they will take you to the specific lanes.
What is the best time to visit Jodhpur?
October to March is the best time. The weather is pleasant. Summers (April-June) are extremely hot in Jodhpur, often crossing 40°C.
What should I buy in Jodhpur?
Jodhpur is famous for Bandhej (Tie & Dye) fabrics, leather Mojari (slippers), and Mathaniya Red Chillies. The Clock Tower market is the best place to find these authentic items.
