Why We Curated This Specific Route
Jaisalmer is far, so if you only have 2 days, every hour counts. We flipped the script on standard tours to give you the best experience.
Desert First: We head straight for the dunes on Day 1. This ensures you don’t miss the legendary desert sunset and cultural program, which is the highlight of the trip.
The “Haunted” Detour: On the way to the camp, we stop at Kuldhara, the famous abandoned ghost village. It adds a layer of mystery that simple city tours miss.
Golden Morning: We save the Jaisalmer Fort for Day 2 morning. The rising sun makes the yellow sandstone glow like gold—the perfect time for photography.
The Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: The Road to the Dunes | Ghost Villages & Desert Safari
Welcome to the Golden City. Upon your arrival at Jaisalmer airport or railway station, our representative will meet you. Instead of checking into a city hotel, we drive straight towards the horizon—to the Thar Desert. On the way, we make a fascinating stop at Kuldhara, an abandoned village with a spooky legend of overnight evacuation. We also visit the ancient capital Lodhurva and the royal cenotaphs at Bada Bagh.
By late afternoon, we reach your Desert Camp at Sam Sand Dunes. After a traditional welcome, get ready for the highlight: a Camel Safari on the dunes as the sun sets, turning the sands gold. The evening ends with a campfire, Rajasthani folk music, the famous Kalbeliya dance, and a delicious buffet dinner under the stars.
Day Highlights:
VIP Meet & Greet at Jaisalmer Airport/Station.
Walk through the haunted lanes of Kuldhara.
Visit the royal cenotaphs at Bada Bagh.
Highlight: Sunset Camel Ride on Sam Sand Dunes.
Cultural Night with Folk Dance & Dinner at Camp.
Day 02: The Living Fort | Havelis & Departure
Wake up to a stunning desert sunrise. After breakfast at the camp, we check out and drive back to Jaisalmer city. Today is dedicated to the Jaisalmer Fort (Sonar Quila). Unlike other forts, this is a “Living Fort”—thousands of people still live inside. We explore the narrow lanes, the ancient Jain Temples, and the King’s Palace.
Later, we walk through the city to admire the intricate stone carvings of the famous merchant mansions: Patwon Ki Haveli (the most complex), Nathmal Ki Haveli, and Salim Singh Ki Haveli. After soaking in the golden heritage, we transfer you to the airport or railway station for your onward journey.
Day Highlights:
Explore the UNESCO World Heritage “Living Fort.”
Visit the intricately carved Jain Temples.
Admire the stone latticework of Patwon Ki Haveli.
Shop for fossil stones or leather goods.
Assisted drop-off at Airport/Station.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are the tents comfortable? Do they have toilets?
Yes! These are "Swiss Tents." They have proper beds, electricity, and attached western-style bathrooms with running water. It is like a hotel room with canvas walls.
What is the story of Kuldhara Village?
Legend says the Paliwal Brahmins abandoned the village overnight in the 1800s to escape a cruel minister. They cursed the land so no one could settle there again. It remains uninhabited to this day.
How cold does it get at night?
In winter (Nov-Feb), the desert gets very cold at night (often single digits). The camps provide heavy blankets and heaters, but please carry warm jackets and woolens.
Is it safe to stay in the desert?
Absolutely. The Sam Sand Dunes area is a designated tourist zone with hundreds of camps and police patrolling. It is very safe for families and couples.
Can we do a Jeep Safari instead of a Camel Ride?
Yes. If you prefer speed over tradition, you can upgrade to a 4x4 Jeep Dune Bashing experience. Just let our driver know, and he will arrange it for you (direct payment).
Is Jaisalmer connected by air?
Yes, Jaisalmer Airport (JSA) has seasonal flights (usually Oct to March) connecting to Delhi, Mumbai, and Jaipur. If flights are not operating, the nearest major airport is Jodhpur (5 hours drive).
